🙎 A Daughter’s Revenge EPISODE SEVENTEEN:
PREVIOUSLY ON A DAUGHTER’S REVENGE:
..Pôlice!
‘Police? What happened?’, I asked myself amid pàñîç.
It was when they finally marched inside the shop I found out that Oga Emma was with them.
‘This is the îdîôt’, Oga Emma said, pointing an accusing finger at me. ‘Arrest her’, he commanded.
THE CONTINUATION:
‘What happened ? What did I do?’, I asked confusedly.
‘Young lady, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law,’ one of the officers said.
‘But what’s my offense?’, I had to ask In tèàrs.
‘Hàñdçûff her’, their leader commanded.
I was hàñdcuffed and led outside to their van.
Though I gave them a tough time as I tried escaping from their càptïvè.
Halfway, I disengaged myself from the two policemen and ran for my dear life.
The policemen ran after me.
In fact, they gave me the chase of my life that day but I managed to escape.
That night I couldn’t go home. I slept in an unknown location.
The following morning, I woke up to the greeting of the golden ray of sun streaming through the windows of the hut.
From the kitchen echoed the clattering pans and aroma of breakfast that filled the air. It was the handwork of my mother as she was busy inside the kitchen preparing a hearty meal. At the extreme end of the hut was my father cleaning his teeth with a chewing stick.
We waited patiently for breakfast.
At the end, we had a delicious breakfast together as a family.
Later in the day, my father sent me on an errand to go buy something for him from the market.
I left the house for the market. On my way, I met my mother waiting for me.
‘Ah, mama, what are you doing here?’, I asked.
‘My daughter, I am here to go with you to the market’, she replied.
‘Mama but that is not necessary na. Because I know you have a lot of work at home to do’, I said.
‘It’s very necessary. I am here to protect you. Or have you forgotten I made a promise to you that I would always be by your side?’, she said amid a smile.
‘Thank you mother for always being there for me’, I appreciated her with a warm hug.
‘You are welcome. Let’s go to the market’, he added.
I headed to the market in the joyous company of my mother.
I woke up!
It was all a dream!
The goods in Oga Emma’s warehouse were burnt down to ashes. The incident was still a big surprise to people. Because it was his warehouse alone that was razed by the fire in the midst of numerous warehouses. What caused the fire was still a puzzle to everyone till today. It happened like a film trick.
What saved Oga Emma was that he didn’t have much goods inside the warehouse. Secondly, the warehouse was the smallest among his numerous warehouses. So the hit didn’t affect him that much.
Meanwhile I have successfully paid in full my shortage.
I also shared with Linda how the whole thing happened. At first, she didn’t believe it, but after much conviction, she was totally baffled.
‘..babe, indeed your God is very much alive and at alert at the same time. What happened was a miracle..,’Linda congratulated me.
‘But I am afraid..’
‘Afraid of what?’, she interrupted me.
‘Afraid of Oga Emma. He may come back one day to ask for his môñèy’, I expressed my fèàr.
‘Are you a bank? Did he give you the môñey in the first place to save for him?,’ she hissed. ‘You tell him that the môñéy has served its purpose. Simple as ABC,’ she advised.
‘No problem. I just hope this whole thing won’t land me into a big problem’.
‘Babe, nothing dey happen. ‘She paused. ‘Now that you have tested the honey, I hope you join us in the league fully?’, she asked.
‘God forbid. I will never be part of that àtrôćîtÿ going on at that market’, I rejected.
‘It’s good to make hay while the sun shines..’
‘Linda, please spare me that. Like I said earlier, I cannot indulge myself into that,’ I interrupted her.
